HD Voice from FreecoNet - silver from Networld's readers 04.11.2010

Networld magazine finished the 5th edition of its competition „Product of the Year 2010 - Selected by Readers of Networld”. FreecoNet platform was among the winners in the category „VoIP, IP communication, video-conferences". It was awarded the second place for introduction of HD quality telephone conversations.

FreecoNet was the first operator in Poland to introduce HD Voice technology to telephone calls. It was possible due to addition of a broad-band codec (g722) to the VoIP platform . It generates sound with a double frequency (16,000 per second) and using a wider frequency band (150 Hz-7 kHz) than traditional telephone services. FreecoNet users can enjoy HD technology calls without any additional charges. Both callers, however, must have appropriate telephones. You can see the differences between HD quality calls and traditional calls at www.hdvoice.pl.

„It is difficult to believe, but quality of telephone sound was even recently exactly the same as at the time when Graham Bell had discovered the device in late XIX century. Changes were not possible because of narrow-band PTST lines used in traditional telecommunication. Only VoIP technology allowed introduction of HD quality to fixed line services. I am very proud because of the award and I hope that it will help to promote HD Voice as a standard for all operators" - said Mr. Jan Wyrwiński, President of the Board of FreecoNet Tlenofon SA.

In addition to HD Voice, readers of Networld expressed their appreciation to FreecoNet for Tandberg EX90 system which won the VoIP category. The solution facilitates PC video-conferencing with full HD resolution (1080p30). The third place was awarded to Avaya Aura IP platform. It is a single-server system handling unified communication services for companies with at least 100 employees.
